Nether Denton is situated close to one of the best preserved parts of Hadrian's Wall and is an ideal base for visitors to explore the rugged landscape from.
Whether walking, and just passing through, or looking for somewhere to use as a base camp for daily excursions by car, you're sure to find somewhere that will suit your needs.
Nether Denton is criss-crossed with quiet, varied walks. Take the high road across Denton Fell, or head downhill towards the River Irthing and Lanercost Priory.
Alternatively, bring your bike and pit yourself against the impressive hill climbing opportunities around the area, before taking in parts of the Hadrian's Cycle Route. If you prefer a gentle stroll, take a walk around Talkin Tarn.
Slightly farther afield, there are hidden gems like the RSPB Geltsdale reserve at Hallbankgate, Housesteads Roman Fort or Birdoswald, and the bustling centres of Hexham and Carlisle if you're missing the hubub of a population centre.
