SHOPPING

There is a Spar at the petrol station on the A69 close to Low Row, where daily essentials can be purchased.

The closest town, Brampton, has TWO Spar stores, a Co-Op, the recently opened Cranston's food store and assorted general traders. The Co-Op and Spar are open until late.

For a 'bigger shop' try Carlisle (Tesco, ASDA, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi), or Hexham (Waitrose, Tesco)

FUEL

M&L Richardson - just off the A69 (MAP)

Also sells calor gas, small bags of coal and wood and has a workshop for car repairs and MOT's.

POST OFFICE

There is a post box in the village of Low Row, another on the A69 a little way outside it, and a Post Office in Brampton. (MAP)

TRANSPORT LINKS

There is a weekly bus service to Brampton (Weds) which provides access to the 10:34 bus to Carlisle. (more info)

Nether Denton is criss-crossed with quiet, varied walks. Take the high road across Denton Fell, or head downhill towards the River Irthing and Lanercost Priory.

Alternatively, bring your bike and pit yourself against the impressive hill climbing opportunities around the area, before taking in parts of the Hadrian's Cycle Route. If you prefer a gentle stroll, take a walk around Talkin Tarn.

Slightly farther afield, there are hidden gems like the RSPB Geltsdale reserve at Hallbankgate, Housesteads Roman Fort or Birdoswald, and the bustling centres of Hexham and Carlisle if you're missing the hubub of a population centre.

Nether Denton is situated close to one of the best preserved parts of Hadrian's Wall and is an ideal base for visitors to explore the rugged landscape from.

Whether walking, and just passing through, or looking for somewhere to use as a base camp for daily excursions by car, you're sure to find somewhere that will suit your needs.
